From One Family's Need to a Community Mission

Feed the Need Sensory Zone was born from a mother's determination to create a world where her child—and others like him—could feel accepted, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Founder Tiana Haywood recognized a challenge many families face: finding safe, inclusive environments where neurodivergent individuals can participate, learn, and express themselves freely.

As the mother of Levi, who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Tiana experienced firsthand the daily obstacles many families navigate. Through therapies, educational experiences, and community activities, she discovered that Levi flourished when he had access to sensory-friendly environments that respected his unique needs and strengths.

At the same time, she realized that many families lacked access to those same opportunities.

Driven by a desire to help not only her own son but also other children, teens, and adults facing similar challenges, Tiana founded Feed the Need Sensory Zone with a simple but powerful vision: to create spaces where individuals feel welcomed, understood, and empowered to be themselves.

What began as a personal journey has grown into a community-driven organization dedicated to sensory inclusion, family support, educational opportunities, community partnerships, and programs that help neurodivergent individuals connect, engage, and thrive.

Today, Feed the Need Sensory Zone continues to serve families across Michigan and beyond through innovative programs, sensory-friendly experiences, community collaborations, and initiatives that make inclusion more than a concept—it becomes a reality.
