It Started With a Need

In 2021, Feed the Need Sensory Zone began with a simple realization. Too many families were navigating environments that were overwhelming, inaccessible, or simply no designed with their social-emotional and sensory needs in mind.

Families were leaving community events early. Many were not attending at all.

We believed the narrative could change.

So we got to work.

From our mobile Sensory Zone Trailer service, schools and community events, to our growing sensory-informed “Messy Middle” homeschool co-op, every initiative is rooted in Intentional Inclusion.

We design environments that are thoughtful, practical, and financially accessible so inclusion becomes sustainable - not just situational.

Building a Sustainable Model for Inclusion

Feed the Need Sensory Zone is rooted in Michigan communities with a long-term commitment to strengthening how sensory inclusion is understood and implemented across the state.

We believe inclusion should not depend on isolated accommodations. It should be embedded into the design of community spaces, educational environments, and public events from the beginning.

Our work is guided by three foundational pillars:

Connect

We create environments where neurodivergent individuals and their families feel safe, seen, and welcomed. Connection begins with belonging.

Engage

We design sensory-forward spaces and programs that actively involve schools, churches, and community partners in practical, implementable inclusion strategies.

Empower

We equip communities with sustainable tools, models, and partnerships so inclusion becomes embedded, not temporary.

We are not simply providing services. We are contributing to a cultural shift in how Michigan approaches sensory inclusion.

Rooted in Michigan, Feed the Need Sensory Zone continues to expand its reach through strategic partnerships and community engagement. While our primary focus remains serving families across Michigan, we have also provided sensory-inclusive support at events in Illinois, Ohio, Maryland, and Louisiana - extending our impact beyond state lines.

Build with Us

Intentional Inclusion does not happen by accident. It is designed, strengthened, and sustained through community.

Whether you are a parent seeking a safe and welcoming environment, a school or church looking to strengthen sensory inclusion, or a donor committed to sustainable impact, there is a place for you in this work.

Together, we are building something that lasts.

Connect. Engage. Empower.
